the Process & Price Guides
The bespoke process begins with the initial consultation whereby Mum & Daughter, Sheila & Jessica, will take time to get to know the client and the details of their wedding day. Venue and time of year, intimate affair or grand wedding - all of these factors will play a part in deciding what style of dress will be best and also the fabrics that will compliment the style of wedding and how the client wants to look on the day. They will go on to discuss the details of the proposed design and fabric options. The pair will guide the client on what fabrics will work best for their design. Following from this, a quote can be provided based on the design and fabrics discussed.
The initial set of measurements that are taken from the client are done over clothes and provide a guide to fabric requirements. These can be done at initial consultation or can be arranged for another time. The true fit of the garment will be achieved at the first fitting stage when the garment will be fitted to the client's true shape.
This is a stage that Jessica & Sheila find most important for their Brides. The pair will put together a toile/ mock-up gown of the proposed design for their Brides to try on. This is a crucial part to the process as the Bride, for the first time in most cases, has the chance to see her ideas made up in to a silhouette and style that she can try on. The toile is made up in a heavy calico that Jessica & Sheila will alter, draw on, cut up and use as the basis to the pattern for the final gown.
The number of dress fittings depend on the garment being made and the complexity of design. It is important all clients have the correct underwear with them for all fittings (and measurements if possible but this is not crucial). The undergarments worn really affect the overall shape and size of the body and it is important that this remains constant throughout the fitting process. No matter the shape or size, 'hold-me-in' undergarments are advised as these give a smooth and seamless finish to the garment. Heels must also be brought to each fitting if the garment is floor length, if this is not possible for the first fitting then a similar height heel that will be worn is needed. It is necessary to have the correct heels by the 2nd fitting stage.
Completion & Collection
Once the garments are finished Jessica will arrange collection with the clients. Any balance must be paid on or before collection. Receipts are given at collection however, if the client would rather have their receipts after each instalment please make this known.
On the day dressing service
Jessica & Sheila do offer an 'On The Day' Dressing Service for their Brides. This helps to eliminate unwanted stresses on the morning of the Wedding and ensures their Brides look their very best. At peak season their Saturdays are limited so please provide as much notice as possible if this service is wanted.
