Micro Wedding, Extra Beautiful

There’s no denying that 2020 has been anything but easy, especially for couples with weddings planned, facing the forever changing rules and restrictions. Yet, we’re shining the light on our Brides & Couples that have taken the leap and persevered in the most difficult year possible, to still find new and beautiful ways to celebrate their love and say ‘I do’.

Olivia’s beautiful wedding was held at Manchester Hall , photographed by Agnes Black. Olivia wore custom JB mikado satin dress with silk organza wrap blouse and a range of fabulously girly JB accessories.

Could you tell us a little about the challenges you faced planning your wedding for 2020? Having only gotten engaged in December 2019 we knew that we did not want to wait too long to get married but we also had no idea what was in store for us all a few months later! Our biggest challenge by far was mentally and literally having to re plan the wedding with the changing Covid-19 guidelines. This was a constant struggle particularly when the guest numbers were halved from 30 to 15 the week before our wedding.

Advice to couples planning a wedding at the moment? For any couples trying to plan a wedding at the moment they will know that this is not a simple task. Although wedding advice in these times may not be simple, from our experience we knew we did not want to postpone. If this is the case for you too then try to remain as flexible as possible with your plans and keep in touch with your suppliers. Being a supplier in the wedding industry at the moment is very difficult but we found that all our suppliers were extremely helpful with the changing plans so get in touch and ask.

Would you do anything differently? No, we decided early on that we wanted to keep our wedding day as close to the original plan as possible and although this was difficult we are really pleased we did. I still wore my gorgeous Jessica Bennett dress and we had beautiful floral arrangements and a lovely cake. Although this made for an extravagant wedding for 12 people it was very memorable and it meant that our photos are quite similar to how they would have been.

What did you love most about your wedding day? Walking down the aisle was my favourite part of the day, I remember thinking I couldn't believe how much I was smiling and happy and I had no nerves at all. I think this feeling would have been very different if we had had nearly 100 guests watching as we originally had planned and I am pleased it was so intimate. I think we had the day we were meant to have.
